Erythrina x bidwillii 

Common Name: Coral Bean, Fireman’s Cap 

Habit: Can reach 10’. Marginally hardy north of zone 9. Treated as a perennial in zone 8. 

Flowers:  Bright red flowers are borne on racemes of a foot long or more from late spring until fall. 

Exposure: full sun and well-drained soils. 

Water:  Infrequent irrigation in summer. 

Uses: Specimen, back of the border, cut flower.
