Echinacea purpurea 

Common Name: Purple coneflower 

Habit: 3’ x 2’ 

Flowers: Purple, daisy-like petals gracefully fall away from orange cones on sturdy stems.  Spring and fall see the best blooms, with sporadic bloom in summer.  Deadheading prolongs bloom time.   

Foliage:  Coarse foliage lends itself to insect resistance and drought tolerance.  Flower stalks emerge from clumps. 

Exposure: Full sun to light shade. well-drained soil. 

Water: Drought tolerant once established. 

Uses: Perennial borders, butterfly gardens, cut flowers, and containers.
