Welcome to the Jim and Beth Kingham Children’s Garden.
Butterflies, bees, birds and children of all ages flock to the Jim and Beth Kingham Children’s Garden located at the north end of the SFASU Mast Arboretum on College Avenue. Surrounding the timber frame pavilion are over 75 cultivars of herbaceous perennials and woody plants chosen especially because they attract butterflies.
Abelia and Vitex trials as well as an alternative fruits collection round out the Children’s Garden. The compost demonstration site offers visitors information and examples of easy ways to compost in their own backyard.
A
water garden, designed by Nathan Unclebach,
senior horticulture major, is currently under construction. It will feature a
bronze statue
donated by the SFA
Mast Arboretum Volunteers.
We don’t grow children in this garden, but we are “growing minds” through educational programs offered to K-12 grade students as well as adults. For more information about Educational Programs or the Children’s Garden, contact Elyce Rodewald, 936-468-1832 or erodewald@sfasu.edu.
